Superintendent
The Barnstable County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) is seeking an experienced corrections professional to serve as Superintendent. The Superintendent holds legal responsibility for the care and custody of all individuals committed to the BCSO and provides strategic leadership and oversight for all corrections-related functions. This role also oversees law enforcement and public safety operations, as well as the BCSO Maintenance Division.
As a key member of the Executive Command Team, the Superintendent collaborates closely with the Chief of Staff, Chief of Human Resources and Organizational Culture, Chief of Inmate Programs and Services, Chief Financial Officer, and General Counsel to support the effective administration of the agency.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess extensive experience in corrections, with a strong background in executive administrative or management roles. Demonstrated expertise in personnel management, correctional operations, and administrative policy is required.

The Criminal Identification Officer supports the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in the recognition, documentation, collection, preservation, and secure transfer of physical evidence in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements and established agency policies.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in criminal justice, forensic science, criminology or related area of study is required in lieu of relevant experience.
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in forensic science, law enforcement, investigations or related experience is required.
Graduation from an approved Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council basic recruit academy is required.
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Position Requirements:
Reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Crime Scene Officers may be required to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and must be available for on‑call responses.

Job Description - Criminal Identification Officer (260001X6)
$37.82 - $47.92 Hourly
The Mental Health Clinician will be responsible for providing mental health services to inmates in a correctional setting including crisis intervention, screening, assessment and evaluation, psychoeducational services, individual and group therapy, treatment planning and release planning. Monitor inmates with mental health service needs in general population and specialized housing.
Qualifications
A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, human services, psychology or relevant area of study is required.
LMHC, LCSW, or LICSW required.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in clinical social work or mental health counseling; group and individual psychotherapy; crisis intervention; and mental health assessments is required.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a correctional facility, mental health facility or detox center id preferred but not required.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Description - Licensed Mental Health Clinician - Per Diem (2600022F)

Position Summary:
The intern will work on a variety of assignments that will involve the administration of the best practices of the BCSO.
Supervision Received:
Receives direct supervision from the assigned department head in performing duties in accordance with all best practices and established guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with the departments of the BCSO to ensure that the mission of the BCSO is upheld.
Assist the departments with administrative tasks.
Assists with data entry and filing.
Participates or assists in events attended by the BCSO or scheduled by the BCSO.
Job Competencies:
Must have good computer skills including Microsoft Office.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally with persons at all levels and to maintain effective working relationships

Qualifications:
Working towards an associates or bachelor's degree (or graduate degree) from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Public Administration or related area of study.
Residents of Barnstable County are preferred.

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care and preliminary health assessments for inmates and detainees within the Barnstable County Correctional Facility following established standards and practices and in accordance with security procedures of the facility. The Licensed Practical Nurse will also function as an information resource to staff on health issues.
Qualifications
Licensure by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Nursing is required.
CPR certification is required.
A minimum or two (2) years of experience as an LPN is required.
A minimum of one (1) years of experience working in a correctional facility and/or substance abuse or detox nursing is preferred but not required.
Ability to work a weekend and holiday rotation is required.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care, oversight of individual plans of care, preliminary and ongoing health assessments for inmates and detainees within the Barnstable County Correctional Facility following established standards and practices and in accordance with security procedures of the facility. The Registered Nurse will also function as an information resource to staff on health issues.
Qualifications:
An Associate’s degree in nursing or a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Science is required.
Licensure by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Nursing is required.
CPR certification is required.
A minimum or two (2) years of experience in nursing is required.
A minimum of one (1) years of experience working in a correctional facility and/or substance abuse or detox nursing is preferred but not required.
Ability to work a weekend and holiday rotation is required.
