The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Offers Two Summer Programs in 2025

BOURNE — To promote public safety through prevention and education, the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office will offer two youth programs this summer. Both are generously supported by Cape Cod Healthcare and free to the public.

As always, the BCSO Youth Academy will be held from July 7 to 25. This program provides personal growth and development skills to students between the ages of 13 and 16. Teenagers are referred to the Youth Academy by counselors, schools, and the courts. It’s specially tailored to develop pro-social skills and good decision-making for youth. For more information, email youthprograms@bsheriff.net

“It does not get any better than prevention in the world of public safety,” Sheriff Donna D. Buckley said. “That’s what the Youth Academy is all about. We know we can teach smart decision-making. We know we can introduce teens to the appropriate experts for support, advice, and counseling. If we can do it, we must do it. That’s my commitment towards a better future.”

This year, we will also offer the Public Safety Explorers Program. It’s open to children between the ages of 10 and 14 who want to learn and possibly pursue a career in public safety. The week-long camp from August 11 to 15 is open to any child with an interest in public safety. Applications for the Public Safety Explorers Program are due June 30 and can be found here bit.ly/405giMg.

“The Public Safety Explorers Program is intended to inspire children to enter the fields of law enforcement, firefighting, emergency telecommunications, and any number of associated careers,” Sheriff Buckley said. “We are grateful that Cape Cod Healthcare shares our commitment to help families and strengthen public safety.”

“We are excited to partner again with the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and support these model community programs,” said Cape Cod Healthcare President and CEO, Michael K. Lauf. “Through our Community Benefits initiative, Cape Cod Healthcare is committed to reinvesting back into local organizations who are dedicated to enhancing the lives of all who live here. We are very proud to sponsor these impactful programs for youth in our community.”
